Tencel

We offer so many fabrics, weaves and finishes for you to choose from – how to make the right purchase? It can be difficult to imagine what certain fabrics will feel like and how they wear. Here, we explain moreabout our materials to help you on your way.

Semi-synthetic fabrics such as lyocell, viscose and modal have for years been incredibly popular in the fashion industry due to their attractive qualities. Lyocell, better known for its brand name Tencel, is the most sustainable of these fabrics. This material is a prominent example of the way in which sustainable fabric production technology is rapidly advancing.

Tencel is made from the wood pulp of eucalyptus trees. Eucalyptus is a very environmentally friendly tree: it hardly needs water or pesticides and what little does need to be used can be collected for reuse. This way, no toxic substances end up in the environment. Besides, Tencel is free of chlorine, which means it is naturally degradable.
